AionLabs: Aion-2.0 vs inclusionAI: Ling 3.1 Flash
A side-by-side comparison of AionLabs: Aion-2.0 ($2.80 / 1M tokens) and inclusionAI: Ling 3.1 Flash ($0.26 / 1M tokens) using current USD prices and capabilities from the api14 catalog. Both run through the same OpenAI-compatible API.

In depth
AionLabs: Aion-2.0 is a text model from AionLabs, released on 2026-02-23. inclusionAI: Ling 3.1 Flash is a text model from inclusionAI, released on 2026-10-02. Both are served as text-in, text-out models on api14, so neither one accepts images or audio on the input side, and neither produces anything other than text on the output side. The choice between them therefore comes down to context size, parameter support and price rather than to modality coverage.
The clearest difference is context length. Ling 3.1 Flash supports 262144 tokens, twice the 131072 tokens that Aion-2.0 supports. Ling 3.1 Flash also exposes a wider set of sampling and decoding parameters, including frequency_penalty, presence_penalty, repetition_penalty, logit_bias, logprobs, top_logprobs, min_p, top_k, seed and stop, and it is the only one of the two with structured_outputs listed. Aion-2.0 supports a smaller set: include_reasoning, max_tokens, reasoning, response_format, temperature, tool_choice, tools and top_p. Both models support tool calling and both support reasoning, so those are not deciding factors. On price, Ling 3.1 Flash is the cheaper of the two for both input and output tokens.
For most work, Ling 3.1 Flash is the natural default. If you are feeding long documents, large codebases, long chat histories or many retrieved chunks into a single request, its larger context window means fewer truncation workarounds and less chunking logic in your application. If you need structured outputs, or you want fine control over sampling through penalties, seeds, top_k or log probabilities, Ling 3.1 Flash is the model that exposes those knobs. Aion-2.0 remains a reasonable pick when its particular behaviour suits your task and you do not need the extra context or the extra parameters; it supports tools and reasoning, so agent style and chain of thought workloads are still possible with it. Because Ling 3.1 Flash is cheaper on both input and output, cost is not a reason to prefer Aion-2.0.
Calling either model through api14 works the same way, because the API is OpenAI compatible. You point your client at the api14 base URL, send your key, and set the model field in the request body. To use Aion-2.0, set the model id to "aion-labs/aion-2.0". To use Ling 3.1 Flash, set it to "inclusionai/ling-3.1-flash". Everything else in the request, the messages array, the tools array, response_format and the sampling parameters, keeps the same shape. Switching between the two is a one line change to the model id, which makes it easy to route some requests to one model and some to the other, or to compare outputs on the same prompt.
There is one case where Aion-2.0 can still be the better pick: when you have already tuned prompts or parameters against it and it behaves the way you expect, and the task fits inside 131072 tokens without needing structured outputs or the extra sampling controls. In that situation there is no functional gap that forces a move, and you can keep the model you have validated. For new work, or for anything that pushes against the context limit or needs the wider parameter set, Ling 3.1 Flash is the more capable and cheaper option.
Switch with one string
Both models use the same endpoint and request shape. Change the model value from "aion-labs/aion-2.0" to "inclusionai/ling-3.1-flash" and prompts, streaming and tools keep working.
