Video widget code on a budget: duration, resolution and daily caps
Video is the most expensive widget type to run. These are the settings that keep a public video widget affordable, and how to pick the right limits for a store or a campaign page.

A video widget can make a campaign page memorable, but each clip costs more than a chat answer or an image. The good news is that the cost of a video widget is predictable once you understand the few settings that drive it.

The embed code never changes. Every control below lives in your dashboard.
What drives the cost
The model. Video models are priced very differently. The model picker in Widgets shows each model's price, and a fast or lite variant is often the right choice for a public widget.
Duration and resolution. Many models charge by the second and by the resolution. The widget always requests the supported duration closest to 5 seconds and the resolution closest to 720p, so visitors cannot ask for a long 1080p clip and the price per request stays steady.
Volume. How many clips your visitors generate per day. This is the number your limits control.
Limits that fit a campaign
Set these before you link the page from an ad or a newsletter:
- A dedicated API key. Every widget runs under one of your API keys. In the editor, the last option in the key list is Create new API key. Give that key a daily spend limit equal to your daily campaign budget and restrict it to the video model you chose.
- A widget limit. Add a daily spend limit on the widget as well. If you run several widgets, a cap for all of them is available in Settings, Widget controls.
- Visitor quotas. Each visitor is limited to 10 requests per minute, and you choose how many requests per day one visitor may send.
When a limit is reached, the widget stops until the next day (UTC) and the reason appears in your widget list.
A store example
An online store adds a video widget to a product launch page: shoppers describe a scene with the new product's style and get a short clip. The store sets its campaign key to a fixed daily budget, limits each visitor to a few clips per day, and turns on failure emails. After the first week, Usage shows the cost per day and the store raises or lowers the cap.
Review regularly
- Today's spend and requests are listed next to each widget.
- Usage groups widget requests by widget and by site.
- Your balance is the final limit: at zero, widgets pause until you add funds.
