About Pareto Latest
Pareto Latest is a text generation model from the provider Unbiased. It is a moving target by design: the model always redirects to the latest model in the Pareto family, so the exact underlying version can change over time while the model id stays the same. If you build against it, you are choosing to track the newest member of that family rather than pinning a fixed release.
The model accepts text and image input and produces text output. It has a context window of 262144 tokens, which is large enough to hold long documents, extended conversations or sizeable code files in a single request, and a maximum output of 131072 tokens, so responses can be long as well. The supported request parameters are max_tokens, response_format, temperature, tool_choice, tools, and top_p. Tool calling and structured output via response_format are both available, which means the model can be wired into agent loops or made to return JSON-shaped text when your application needs it.
Those capabilities point to a few practical uses. Long-context work such as summarising or querying large documents, contracts or codebases fits the 262144 token window. Because images can be passed in alongside text, screenshot analysis, diagram reading and document understanding tasks are reasonable. Tool support makes it suitable as the reasoning step in an agent that calls external functions, and response_format helps when you need machine-readable output for downstream parsing. Temperature and top_p give you control over how deterministic or varied the generations are.
You call the model through api14's OpenAI-compatible API using the model id "~unbiased/pareto-latest". Because the interface follows the OpenAI chat completions shape, existing OpenAI SDKs and clients work with a change of base URL and API key. In the request body you can set max_tokens, temperature, top_p, response_format, tools and tool_choice. Streaming and other standard request fields behave as they do for other OpenAI-compatible endpoints.
One thing to weigh is the redirect behaviour. Since the id always points at the newest Pareto model, output characteristics, latency and behaviour can shift without any change on your side, which is convenient for staying current but less predictable for reproducible pipelines. If you need stable behaviour across runs, a pinned model may suit you better. Also note that output is text only, so tasks requiring generated images or audio are out of scope here.
How to call the Pareto Latest API
- Create an API key in your dashboard.
- Install the official openai SDK for your language.
- Set baseURL to https://api14.com/api/v1 and model to "~unbiased/pareto-latest".
import OpenAI from "openai";
const client = new OpenAI({
baseURL: "https://api14.com/api/v1",
apiKey: process.env.API14_API_KEY,
});
const result = await client.chat.completions.create({
"model": "~unbiased/pareto-latest",
"messages": [
{
"role": "user",
"content": "Explain vector databases in two sentences."
}
]
});
console.log(result.choices[0].message.content);
