Pricing & billing
How api14 pricing works: USD balance, transparent per-model prices, plans with included usage, pay-as-you-go top-ups and how charges are calculated.
api14 bills everything from one USD balance. Every new account starts with free credit; after that you add money with one-time top-ups, or subscribe and get more usage than you pay for.
Model prices
Every model is billed at the price shown on its page and on the models page, in the unit that fits the category:
| Category | Unit |
|---|---|
| Text and embeddings | $ per 1M input tokens · $ per 1M output tokens |
| Image | $ per image or $ per 1M image tokens |
| Video | $ per second, per resolution |
| Speech (TTS) | $ per 1M characters |
| Transcription | $ per minute |
| Rerank | $ per 1K searches |
Some models also price cached input, reasoning tokens, web search results or a fixed amount per request. These are listed on the model page as well.
How a request is charged
- The cost of a request is returned in
usage.cost(USD), exactly the amount debited from your balance. You can look it up later with Generation lookup. - The cost is debited from your balance after the request completes. For streams, it is debited when the stream ends, also if your client disconnects early, because the model still did the work.
- Failed requests are not charged. Any response with a 4xx or 5xx status costs nothing.
- Video jobs are charged once, when the job completes. Before the job is accepted, your balance must cover the estimated cost (duration × the per-second price for the resolution).
Balance
Your balance is plain US dollars. Check it in Billing or from code with GET /credits, see Balance & key info.
When your balance reaches $0, metered requests return 402 insufficient_balance until you add funds. Optional auto top-up charges your saved card when the balance falls below a threshold you choose.
Plans
Plans add more usage to your balance every month than they cost, and raise your limits.
| Plan | Price | Included usage | Rate limit | API keys | Models |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $1.00 once, on signup | 5 RPM | 1 | All |
| Pro | $20 / month | $30 / month (+50%) | 100 RPM | 10 | All, including video and music |
| Team | $100 / month | $160 / month (+60%) | 3,000 RPM | Unlimited | All, plus team members and usage export |
| Enterprise | Custom | Custom | 3,000+ RPM | Custom | All, with invoicing and SLA |
- Yearly billing saves 20% on the price; included usage stays the same, Pro yearly is +88% and Team yearly +100% over what you pay.
- Included usage is added to your balance when each invoice is paid, as a line like "+$30.00 Pro plan".
- Usage beyond the included amount is charged from the same balance at the same model prices.
- Unused included usage rolls over.
- Upgrade, downgrade or cancel at any time in Billing. Proration is handled by Stripe.
Pay-as-you-go top-ups
Add funds at any time without a subscription: $10, $25, $50, $100 or a custom amount, paid with Stripe Checkout. A top-up adds exactly the amount you pay, plans are the better value if you use the API every month. Top-ups and plan usage share one balance.
Other currencies
Prices and balances can be displayed in EUR, GBP, TRY and other currencies for convenience. Billing, the ledger and the API always use USD.
Invoices and receipts
Receipts for top-ups and invoices for subscriptions are available in Billing through the Stripe customer portal. Your full usage history, with the cost of each request, is in the usage dashboard and can be exported as CSV.
